How to Perform the Test:

  1. Preparation:

    • Timing: The test can be performed at any time of day, though first-morning urine is preferable as it is more concentrated.
  2. Unpacking the Test:

    • Remove the test from the pouch by tearing it at the notch.
    • Remove the cap to expose the absorbent tip.
  3. Testing:

    • Urine Stream Method: Hold the test by the thumb grip and place the absorbent tip in your urine stream for at least 5 seconds, ensuring it is thoroughly wet.
    • Cup Method: Alternatively, you can urinate into a clean, dry cup or container. Dip the absorbent tip of the test into the urine for at least 5 seconds.
  4. Post-Testing:

    • Lay the test stick flat with the results window facing up.
    • Wait for 10 minutes. If you prefer, you can replace the cap to cover the absorbent tip.
    • The test should not be read after 30 minutes.

Reading Your Results:

  • Normal Color Movement: It is normal to see a colored solution moving across the window as the test processes.
  • Result Interpretation:
    • 1 Line (Control Line Only): If only 1 pink line appears in the control region (C), the test is negative, indicating you are not pregnant.
    • 2 Lines (Test Line and Control Line): If 2 pink lines appear, one in the test region (T) and one in the control region (C), the test is positive, indicating you are pregnant. Even if the lines are faint, a positive result is valid.
    • Invalid Results: If no pink line appears in the control region (C), the test is invalid. This may indicate the absorbent tip was not sufficiently saturated with urine. Repeat the test with a new test stick if this occurs.

Understanding the Results:

  • Positive Result: Two lines (one in the test region and one in the control region) indicate the presence of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), a pregnancy hormone, suggesting you are pregnant. Consult your doctor for further advice on prenatal care and medication safety.
  • Negative Result: One line in the control region indicates no hCG detection, suggesting you are not pregnant. If your period is delayed beyond a week, retest or consult with your physician.
  • Follow-Up: If the test is negative but your menstrual cycle is irregular or does not start soon, retest or seek medical advice to understand the cause.

Test Limitations:

  • Accuracy: The test is highly accurate, with over 99% accuracy when used correctly. False results are rare but can occur.
  • Factors Not Affecting Results: Alcohol, painkillers, antibiotics, and birth control pills should not affect test results.
  • Expiration and Damage: Do not use the test after the expiration date or if the protective foil pouch is damaged or opened.

Consult a Doctor:

  • If you get unexpected or inconsistent results, or if you have health conditions that might affect the results, consult your doctor for further evaluation and advice.
